Concerned about widespread claims of facial hair discrimination in the workplace, we partnered Wahl Trimmers with the American Mustache Institute (AMI) to launch the Workplace Mustache Study then went on the road promoting the rights and benefits of facial hair in the workplace. The tongue-in-cheek partnership shed light on the state of facial hair discrimination in the workplace while proving that facial hair has a rightful place on the job. The partnership allowed Wahl to align with AMI, one of the largest and most influential facial hair organizations in the country.
The Mustaches at Work Tour consisted of four mustached men in a Wahl and AMI branded van and an eight-city tour through the “Mustache Belt” of America. While on the road, the team created a series of documentary-style videos capturing their adventure. The videos were shared on social media channels to promote the tour and study. This unforgettable ride took them to the tour’s final destination: Stache Bash—one of the biggest facial hair celebrations of the year—in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
Ultimately, the survey was a huge success with more than 1,000 participants sharing their views. Analysis showed that nine out of 10 Americans surveyed believe mustaches are appropriate for the workplace.
