Jordan leaving to pursue specialty in marketing to women
MILWAUKEE (Dec. 21, 2011) – Tom Jordan recently announced he will be leaving HY Connect, the integrated communications agency he has led for more than 29 years. Jordan is leaving to pursue opportunities within his passion of marketing to women. The resignation will be effective as of the end of this year.
“I am proud of the work being done at HY Connect and feel it is the right time for me to more fully pursue my new passion,” said Jordan. “The industry has a lot of progress to make in the realm of more effective advertising to women and I’m eager to dive in more fully.”
Jordan started his advertising career in Cleveland at Brand Advertising, then moved to Chicago to join Tatham-Laird & Kudner and then Leo Burnett before moving to Milwaukee in 1983 to join Hoffman York (now HY Connect). Throughout his career he has demonstrated creative leadership and success with numerous awards and accolades. He is most proud of his numerous O’Toole Awards from the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s) that represent a body of creative work rather than a single piece. Original music has also become a signature for Jordan. With dozens of songs under his belt he has worked with major musical talent including Ray Charles and his award-wining songwriting work for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin was part of an effective fundraising campaign.
More recently, Jordan was awarded the prestigious Taylor Award from his Alma Mater, Kent State, for significant contributions to his profession.
Over the years, Jordan has published three books – What’s a Saatchi?, Re-Render the Gender and the recently launched PurseStrings.
“We know Tom’s continued work in the industry will be significant,” said HY Connect President Dave Sheehan. “We’re pleased we’ll be able to continue to tap him as a resource for more effective marketing to women.”
HY Connect will continue investing in its marketing to women specialty which includes a dedicated team within the agency who work together to apply proprietary research and insight to create more effective advertising to women. The group applies its insights to the agency’s growing list of clients, as well as to advocate for best practices in the industry.
“Tom’s legacy at HY Connect will be his commitment to doing work that actually works for clients,” said Troy Peterson, HY Connect chief executive officer. “His energy, enthusiasm and creativity will be missed.”
HY Connect will now be led jointly by Chief Executive Officer Troy Peterson who operates out of the Milwaukee office and President Dave Sheehan who is out of the Chicago office. Peterson has been with the agency for 22 years and Sheehan has served for nine years.
