HY Connect Creates On-Trend Campaign for Design Center at Merchandise Mart
The 2013 Pantone “it” color, emerald green, has been spotted strutting down the runway at Fashion Weeks and adorning cherished pieces in top designer showrooms across the country. It can also be seen popping off the pages of our new campaign for Design Center at Merchandise Mart, the world’s first and largest Design Center.
“Using the Pantone color of the year doesn’t just help us keep our creative fresh, it embodies a style trend which is what Design Center is all about,” said HY Connect Vice President and Creative Director Laurette Perlewitz.
Momentum Builds at Home Building Conference
I was among thousands who recently flocked to Las Vegas for the International Builders’ Show (IBS), which is organized each year by the National Association of Home Builders. The largest residential construction show in the world, IBS is a Mecca of the latest and most advanced building products, services and trends.
During my 25 years of attending the show I’ve gone both as an exhibitor, and working on behalf of my clients. This year, with rumblings about the pace of a market rebound, I was on the lookout to see what brands were highlighting, and to find out attendees’ perceptions.
The good thing about attending this show for so long, it’s easy to spot significant trends, and this year I came back with five insights; here it goes:

Immersing Yourself in the Business
Since I began working with Yamaha Outboards, I’ve sought out opportunities to learn more about the product and lifestyle surrounding it. Little did I know that opportunity would come at 71 mph.
Recently, I had the opportunity to join fellow HY Connector Tom Watson on a road trip up north for the 2012 Bassmaster Green Bay Challenge, one in the Bassmaster Elite tournament series where 98 professional anglers from all over the country vie for the chance at $100,000 and a coveted spot in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic. Hundreds of steps at the housewares show lead to five observations
Billing itself as the “world’s largest home & housewares show,” the 2012 International
Home + Housewares Show is indeed big—with more than 2,100 exhibitors, and 60,000 attendees from all over the globe wandering through 765,000 square feet of exhibits in Chicago’s cavernous McCormick Place Convention Center. This trade show is known for debuting dramatic innovation in home products, such as the Black & Decker Dustbuster, the George Forman Grill, and the Swiffer dry/wet mop. A number of HY Connecters, including me, attend this annual show, both on behalf of existing clients and because walking this show can be eye-opening fun.

Cut! Wahl wraps successful mobile grooming tour

As the popularity of facial hair grows, so does the need for proper grooming tools and techniques. HY Connect’s PR team again traveled the country with Wahl, an industry leader in men’s grooming tools, to show guys how to put their best face forward.
With the addition of Wahl’s newest product, the Triple Play, which is the first lithium ion shaver and trimmer, the tour added shaving tips and was renamed Face the Day tour. New graphics, developed by the HY Connect creative team, were deployed on the mobile barbershop and WahlNation.com. Continue Reading…
