We were recently recognized as one of the top 10 Socially Savvy Agencies by The Agency Post, an interactive zine for advertising, PR and marketing professionals. Winners were selected for their story appeal and the ability to motivate users to engage, connect and care about the brands through a creative campaign that tells a compelling story. And based on some of the other winning brands and agencies, it’s safe to say we’re in some pretty good company.
The socially-savvy honor came courtesy of the Dirty Dogs Contest, a photo-sharing contest we developed to promote Wahl’s new line of all-natural pet shampoos. Unlike usual pet photo contests that feature squeaky-clean dogs, however, we asked people to share their dog at their dirtiest—but for a great cause. Executed during National Dog Adoption Month, the contest supported the Petfinder Foundation on petfinder.com. Participants could help “clean out America’s pet shelters” by visiting Wahl’s Facebook page for a chance to win a $5,000 grant for their local shelter plus pet grooming supplies from Wahl. And to help all those dirty dogs clean up their act, we provided free samples of Wahl’s new shampoo along with other prize packs to those who entered.
The campaign was a big hit. Wahl’s Facebook community grew a whopping 900%, increasing from just over 1,000 likes to nearly 10,000 in just one month. There were also more than 400 unique entries into the contest, plus hundreds of blog posts and local and national coverage promoting it.
Blast Radius for Nike/Jordan; Evolution Bureau for Juicy Fruit and DDB New York for WATERisLIFE were named among the top 10 with us.
