When Wahl Clipper Corporation launched a new line of all-natural pet shampoo we couldn’t resist a fun campaign to get the word out. So we partnered with Petfinder.com Foundation to host a photo contest with a unique twist…
Rather than ask pet owners to share the usual photo of their squeaky clean dog, we asked them to share their dog at its dirtiest—but for a great cause. Executed during National Dog Adoption Month, the Wahl Dirty Dogs Contest asked participants to visit Wahl’s Facebook page for a chance to win a $5,000 grant for their local shelter plus pet grooming supplies from Wahl.
The goal was to increase Wahl’s Facebook community while creating awareness and engagement with their target– dog owners. Partnering with the Petfinder.com Foundation not only helped Wahl reach its core audience, but gave them a reason to follow the brand. To help all those dirty dogs clean up their act, we provided free samples of Wahl’s new shampoo along with other prize packs.
The campaign was a big hit. Wahl’s Facebook community grew a whopping 900 percent, going from just over 1,000 likes to nearly 10,000 in just one month. There were more than 400 unique entries into the contest, not to mention hundreds of blog posts and local and national coverage promoting it.
