Every second, four new babies are born in the world. That means four new lives every second placed in the hands of watchful caregivers. However, sometimes even the most watchful of guardians needs a little assistance, especially when it comes to the sleeping environment of their babies. That’s why HY Connect worked with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to develop a new approach to educating caregivers and family members about the dangers of unsafe sleeping conditions.
We created an educational tool in the form of a children’s book, which is expected to be given to new parents throughout Wisconsin when newborns leave the hospital. The “ABCs of Safe Sleeping” teaches youngsters and caregivers about the precautions that should be taken with a new baby in the household. There is a helpful tip for each letter of the alphabet, beginning with the baby sleeping Alone, on his or her Back and in a Crib. All copywriting and illustrations were done in-house at HY Connect.
The infant mortality rate in Milwaukee is one of the highest in the country. The “ABCs of Safe Sleeping” will deliver critical tips and reminders in an approachable, organic way, leading to safe sleeping habits throughout the city and Wisconsin.
